Castello di Neive Barbera d'Alba DOC 2024

Castello di Neive Barbera d'Alba DOC is a fresh, fruit-driven Piedmontese red from a historic estate in the Langhe hills.

Barbera is the everyday red of Piedmont, valued for its deep colour, low tannin and naturally high acidity. Here it is grown on the hills around Neive by a family who have farmed the castle's vineyards for some sixty years, alongside their better-known Nebbiolo plantings. The estate bottles this wine young to keep the emphasis on ripe red fruit and freshness, and describes it as balanced, with lively acidity that is well integrated.

Juicy and versatile at the table, it is best at around 15 to 16 degrees. Think pizza, salami, tomato-based pasta, grilled pork sausages or eggplant parmigiana. Drink it over the next three to four years.
