Description

Catena High Mountain Vines Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, layered Argentine Cabernet grown high in Mendoza's Andean foothills.

Altitude is the thread running through everything the Catena family makes. Cooler nights at elevation slow ripening, so the grapes keep their acidity while building colour and flavour, and the strong mountain sunlight encourages thicker skins and firm tannins. For this wine, Cabernet Sauvignon from several estate vineyards is blended with a little Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Expect red and black fruits, a touch of pepper and cedar, and a refined tannin structure.

Open it an hour before dinner and serve at about 17 degrees. Grilled lamb, beef burgers or a mushroom and red wine casserole all work, and it will cellar comfortably for several years.
