Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Fortuna Terrae Malbec 2022

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Fortuna Terrae Malbec is a long-lived, elegant Malbec from a single parcel of the Adrianna Vineyard in Mendoza.

Named after Nicolás Catena Zapata's youngest daughter, the Adrianna Vineyard was planted in Gualtallary, high in the Uco Valley, at an elevation once thought too cold for quality Malbec. Today its individual parcels are bottled separately, each reflecting a different soil. Fortuna Terrae, meaning 'luck of the land', comes from a section of deep, loamy ground, which gives the fruit freshness and a more floral, aromatic character than the stonier blocks. Expect spicy black fruit, moderate acidity and a smooth, rounded palate.

Give it air: a decanter helps now, though this is a wine for the long haul, and the winery expects it to age well for 30 years or more. Serve at around 17 degrees with chargrilled rib-eye, braised beef cheeks or aged hard cheeses.
