Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae Malbec is a small-production Malbec from a single limestone parcel in Gualtallary, Mendoza.

Gualtallary, in the Tupungato district of the Uco Valley, is among the highest and coolest corners of Mendoza, and the family's Adrianna Vineyard is its best-known site. Within it, this parcel of about 1.4 hectares has limestone-streaked soils left behind by an ancient sea. Well drained and full of beneficial rhizobacteria, the ground helps the vines take up nutrients and handle the stress of mountain growing. The Latin name translates as 'elegant microbes of the earth', a nod to that hidden life underfoot. Expect a firm yet fine Malbec with lift and length.

Open it early or pour it through a decanter, then serve at around 17 degrees. Beef Wellington, lamb with rosemary and garlic or a plate of hard cheeses work well. It has the structure to improve in bottle for many years.
