Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard White Bones Chardonnay 1.5L MAGNUM 2022

Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard White Bones Chardonnay is a celebrated single-block Chardonnay from Mendoza, presented here in magnum.

For more than four generations the Catena family has grown vines in the Andean foothills, and Nicolás Catena went on to identify the finest lots and rows within the family's estate vineyards. These particular rows sit in Block 1 of the Adrianna Vineyard, at almost 1,500 metres in Gualtallary. The soil here is layered with calcareous deposits, limestone and fossilised bones, the remains of an ancient river. There are several theories as to why the grapes show such floral aromas and earthy minerality, from the minerals themselves to the way the calcareous layers affect root growth.

A magnum makes a fine centrepiece for a long lunch, and the larger bottle also tends to age more slowly. Chill it to about 10 to 12 degrees and serve with whole baked snapper, roast chicken or crayfish.
