Catena Zapata Adrianna Vineyard White Stones Chardonnay is a precise, high-altitude Chardonnay from a handful of rows in Gualtallary.

Just 27 rows within Block 1 of the Adrianna Vineyard go into this wine. Their soil is a blanket of gravel and pale, oval stones, which is where the name comes from. Almost 1,500 metres above sea level in the Tupungato district, the rocky ground is so poor that roots struggle to go deep, drainage is excellent and the vines are held under steady stress. Nights are cold, so ripening is slow and yields stay low while acidity is kept intact. It is a Chardonnay built on tension and texture.

Pour it lightly chilled, around 10 degrees, with oysters, pan-fried whiting or a simple roast chook. Cellaring for several years will add depth.
