Catena Zapata Angélica Zapata Chardonnay Alta 2021

Catena Zapata Angélica Zapata Chardonnay Alta is a generous high-altitude Chardonnay from Mendoza, named in honour of Nicolás Catena's mother.

The Catena family has farmed vines in Mendoza for more than a century, and its reputation rests on planting at altitude in the foothills of the Andes. For this wine the Chardonnay is grown at the foot of the Cordón del Plata range, in what the family describes as Mendoza's highest-altitude microclimate. Warm, sunny days build ripeness and flavour, while cold nights keep the acidity fresh, giving grapes of good balance and full maturity. The wine is fermented and matured in French oak, which adds richness and a creamy texture to the fruit.

At the table, it has the weight to handle richer dishes: try it with roast pork belly, lobster with a butter sauce or a creamy mushroom risotto. Serve chilled, at around 10 to 12 degrees, in a larger glass.
