Catena Zapata Angélica Zapata Chardonnay Alta 2022

Catena Zapata Angélica Zapata Chardonnay Alta is a rich, polished Argentine Chardonnay from one of the country's founding fine wine families.

Angélica Zapata was the mother of Nicolás Catena, the third-generation vintner who led Argentina's move into high-altitude vineyards, and this range carries her name. The Chardonnay grows beneath the Cordón del Plata mountains in Mendoza, a spot where sun-filled days are followed by sharp drops in temperature after dark. That swing lets the grapes ripen fully while keeping their natural freshness. In the cellar, the wine is barrel fermented and aged in French oak, building a layered, textural style that still carries a clear line of acidity.

This is a white for more substantial food. Chill it to around 10 degrees and match it with barbecued prawns, veal in a cream sauce or baked salmon. It can also be kept for a few years.
