Catena Zapata Argentino Malbec 2023

Catena Zapata Argentino Malbec is a high-altitude Malbec that celebrates the grape's story and its adopted home in Argentina.

Malbec travelled from south-west France to Mendoza in the 19th century and, in the Andean foothills, became Argentina's signature grape. The Catena family, whose first Malbec vineyard dates to 1902, has done much to raise its profile, and Argentino is their tribute to the variety. Fruit comes from the family's mountain estate vineyards in the Uco Valley and is matured in French oak. The family describes 2023 as a vintage of elegant wines with high natural acidity, lower alcohol and marked minerality and texture.

Pour at 16 to 18 degrees after a short decant. It is made for grilled meats, especially Argentine-style asado, and also pairs well with lamb or hard cheeses. It will reward cellaring for many years.
