Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard Malbec 2022

Catena Zapata Nicasia Vineyard Malbec is a single-vineyard Malbec from Paraje Altamira, grown by one of Argentina's leading wine families.

Altamira sits in the southern Uco Valley, where stony alluvial soils and cool mountain air suit Malbec especially well. The Catena family planted the Nicasia Vineyard here as part of its long study of how altitude shapes flavour, and now bottles the site on its own. The wine pairs ripe dark currants and raspberry with a fine touch of French oak, and the palate is creamy, complex and floral.

A plate of lamb cutlets or a slow-cooked beef ragù is a good match. Serve at around 17 degrees after an hour in a decanter; it will also age well for many years.
