Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 1.5L MAGNUM 2018

Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis in magnum is a blend of three parcels within the estate's monopole amphitheatre in Castiglione Falletto.

Bricco Boschis is an amphitheatre-shaped cru and the source of Cavallotto's most emblematic Barolo, drawn from vines averaging fifty years of age. Three components make up the blend. Punta Marcello, at the top of the slope beside the cantina, is the cool part of the site and gives fragrant, pale juice with long, angular tannins. Vigna Colle Sudovest lies lower and faces south, the warmest microclimate in the vineyard, and gives fleshier, darker, more accessible wine with softer tannins. The renowned Vigna San Giuseppe vines contribute a portion as well, and together the three build a complete picture of the cru. The 2018 saw between 25 and 35 days on skins, then three years in casks of 20 to 100 hectolitres, and was bottled unfiltered. The magnum format will slow its development further.

Give it a decade and it will still be improving; serve with braised beef, truffle pasta or aged cheese at 16-18°C.
