Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 2018

Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis is drawn from three parcels within the estate's amphitheatre-shaped cru in Castiglione Falletto.

Bricco Boschis is the source of Cavallotto's most emblematic Barolo, from vines averaging fifty years of age, and the wine is built from three components. Punta Marcello, at the top of the slope beside the cantina, is the cool part of the site and gives fragrant, pale juice with long, angular tannins. Vigna Colle Sudovest lies lower and faces south, the warmest microclimate in the vineyard, and gives fleshier, darker and more accessible wine with softer tannins. The Vigna San Giuseppe vines, bottled separately as the estate's Riserva, contribute a portion as well. Together the three build the complete picture of the cru, complementing each other in aromatics and structure. The 2018 saw between 25 and 35 days on skins, followed by three years in casks ranging from 20 to 100 hectolitres, and was bottled unfiltered.

Decant if opening in the next few years; it will keep improving for a decade or more. Match with braised beef, mushroom risotto or aged Castelmagno at 16-18°C.
