Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 2020

Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis is the estate's emblematic wine, a blend of parcels across an amphitheatre-shaped cru at Castiglione Falletto.

Bricco Boschis is a profound vineyard, and this bottling is its complete picture rather than a single slice of it. The fruit comes from vines averaging 50 years of age, chiefly in two parcels. Punta Marcello lies at the top of the slope beside the cantina, a cool terroir known for fragrant, pale juice and long, angular tannins. Vigna Colle Sudovest faces south at lower elevation, the warmest microclimate in the vineyard, giving fleshier and more accessible wine with darker fruit and softer tannins. The renowned Vigna San Giuseppe vines also contribute, and together the three components complement each other and build aromatic and structural complexity. The wine saw 28 to 30 days on skins, then three years in large Slavonian oak casks of 20 to 100 hectolitres, and was bottled unfiltered.

Approachable earlier than the Riservas but good for fifteen years or more; decant when young. Serve at 16-18°C with braised meats, agnolotti or mature cheeses.
