Chaffey Bros Battle for Barossa La Résistance GSM 2024

Chaffey Bros Battle for Barossa La Résistance GSM is a generous Barossa blend of Grenache, Shiraz and Mourvèdre from one of the region's most inventive small labels.

Behind the label are Daniel Chaffey Hartwig and South African-born winemaker Theo Engela, who have built a reputation for bold packaging, playful names and serious fruit sourcing across the Barossa and Eden Valley. The Battle for Barossa range pays tribute to the region's traditional varieties, and this is their take on the classic southern Rhône trio that has been grown in the Barossa for well over a century. Grenache leads, bringing red-fruited lift and warmth, while Shiraz adds depth and colour and Mourvèdre contributes savoury grip and a firmer frame. The previous release picked up a gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards, so expectations are high for this vintage.

Pour it at around 16 to 18 degrees alongside slow-roasted lamb shoulder, chargrilled sausages or a mushroom and lentil ragù. It is plush and approachable in its youth, with enough structure to reward a few years in the cellar.
