Chaffey Bros Evangeline Syrah 2023

Chaffey Bros Evangeline Syrah is a perfumed, cool-fruited Syrah with a bright, lively line.

Syrah on a Chaffey Bros label signals a lighter touch in the winery: earlier picking, careful oak and a focus on lift and spice. The 2023 season was one of the coolest and latest in the Barossa and Eden Valley for many years, and it has given this wine blue fruits, white pepper, dried herbs and a touch of menthol, held together by snappy acidity and shapely tannins. It won a silver medal at Syrah du Monde 2025, and The Real Review's Aaron Brasher praised its length.

Serve it slightly cool, around 15 to 17 degrees, next to rare lamb backstrap, mushroom risotto or charcuterie. It is lovely now and should hold nicely for several years.
