Chaffey Bros Omnia Nova Syrah 2023

Chaffey Bros Omnia Nova Syrah is a fragrant two-site Syrah drawing on both the Barossa Valley and the Eden Valley.

Two vineyards make up the blend: the Rohrlach site at Dorrien on the Barossa Valley floor, and the Noack vineyard at Springton, up in the Eden Valley. Around 15% of the fruit went in as whole bunches, adding perfume and fine tannin, and the wine spent eight months in oak followed by eight months in stainless steel to keep it fresh. Halliday Wine Companion's Dave Brookes rated it 93 points, noting violets, plum and mulberry fruit with exotic spice and a supple, powdery texture.

Serve it at around 16 to 17 degrees with pork and fennel sausages, lamb koftas or a mushroom pie. It is supple enough to enjoy now and will build savoury complexity over the next five or so years.
