Chambers Rutherglen Muscadelle

Chambers Rutherglen Muscadelle, formerly called Tokay, is the other great fortified of north-east Victoria.

Muscadelle is a Bordeaux grape that found an unlikely second home in Rutherglen, where it is raisined on the vine, fortified and aged for years in old oak. It gives a different character from Muscat: more tea leaf and cold butterscotch than raisin and rose. The name Tokay was retired under a trade agreement with the European Union. Chambers Rosewood has made it since 1858.

Serve in small glasses at 14 degrees with butterscotch pudding, dried figs or aged cheddar. An opened bottle keeps for months.
