Description
Champagne Agrapart & Fils Grand Cru Terroirs is a blanc de blancs built entirely from grand cru Côte des Blancs fruit, with reserve wine accounting for around 80 per cent of the blend.
The Côte des Blancs is the chalk heartland of Chardonnay in Champagne, and this cuvée draws only on four of its most highly regarded villages: Avize, Cramant, Oger and Oiry. Agrapart farms organically and works with old plantings, the average vine age here running beyond fifty years, which the house treats as a quality factor alongside site. The base for this release is 2019 and 2018, but the telling figure is the reserve component, which makes up roughly four fifths of the assemblage. Fermentation is with natural yeasts, half the wine matured in large-format neutral oak, and the blend then spent more than 36 months on lees. Dosage is held to 5 g/L, and disgorgement in June 2023 was carried out by hand.
It drinks well now and will gain further definition with another year or two under cork. Serve at about 8°C with freshly shucked oysters, sashimi or a wedge of Comté.
