Description
Champagne Agrapart & Fils Grand Cru Terroirs is a grand cru blanc de blancs from four Côte des Blancs villages, with reserve wine making up around 80 per cent of the blend.
The four villages behind this cuvée, Avize, Cramant, Oger and Oiry, form the chalk core of the Côte des Blancs, and Agrapart draws only on established sites within them. Vine age is treated as a quality factor alongside terroir here, with plantings averaging more than fifty years. This release is based on the 2019, 2018 and 2017 harvests, though the striking element is the reserve component, which accounts for roughly four fifths of the blend. Fermentation is natural, half the wine matured in large-format neutral oak, and the assemblage then spent more than 36 months on lees. Dosage is limited to 5 g/L and the bottles were disgorged by hand in March 2023. The viticulture is organic, and the winemaking standards are those of a grower working at prestige-cuvée level.
Wonderful now and, as always, better again for another year under cork; serve at 8°C with oysters, tempura or a plate of Comté.
