Champagne Agrapart Grand Cru Terroirs Blanc de Blancs NV Disg. Oct 20

A blanc de blancs from four grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs, about half of it from Avize, disgorged in October 2020.

The Agrapart family has been at Avize since 1894, and Pascal Agrapart has led the house since 1984, expanding it from four hectares to twelve, nine of them grand cru in Avize, Cramant, Oger and Oiry. He farms without herbicides or synthetic treatments, ploughs mechanically and uses a horse on the parcels where it matters, and holds that a vine only reaches its balance after about twenty years, when the imprint of the soil shows most clearly. Terroirs is pure Chardonnay from those four villages, with Avize supplying roughly half, from vines of about twenty-five to fifty years. Fermentation runs on native yeast and malolactic is completed; the wine passes through both tank and older cask, spends around three years on lees in bottle and is finished with a low dosage in the estate's usual manner.

Drinking well now and capable of gaining for several years. Serve at around 8°C with oysters, grilled whiting or a dish of roast chicken.
