Description
Champagne Bérêche et Fils Brut Réserve Vieilles Vignes Non Filtrée, in three-litre double magnum, is the house's introductory cuvée and one of the benchmarks of grower Champagne.
Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche run the family house at Ludes in the Montagne de Reims and are among the most closely watched of Champagne's younger generation. This release is based on the 2020 vintage, which makes up 65% of the blend, with the balance drawn from the two preceding years. The composition is 35% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims, specifically Ludes, Trépail and Ormes, 35% Chardonnay from sites across the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, and 30% Pinot Meunier from Mareuil-le-Port. Average vine age is forty years. The fruit is hand-harvested and fermented with natural yeasts in barrel, the wine spends 24 to 36 months sur lattes in the Bérêche cellars, and disgorgement is done by hand with just under 6 g/L dosage. It is bottled unfiltered.
It drinks well now and will develop for a decade in this format; serve with roast chicken, charcuterie or a plate of hard cheese at about 8°C.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
