Description
Champagne Bérêche et Fils Brut Réserve Vieilles Vignes Non Filtrée is the house's unfiltered multi-vintage cuvée, presented here in double magnum.
Raphaël and Vincent Bérêche farm around ten hectares from their base at Ludes on the Montagne de Reims, and this cuvée is the clearest statement of their method. The current release is built on the 2021 harvest, which yielded so little that the base vintage accounts for 55 per cent of the blend, with the balance from the two preceding years. It divides into 35 per cent Pinot Noir from Ludes, Trépail and Ormes on the Montagne de Reims, 35 per cent Chardonnay from sites across the Montagne and the Vallée de la Marne, and 30 per cent Meunier from Mareuil-le-Port. Ludes and Trépail supply tension against the depth of the Marne fruit and the reserve wines. Average vine age is forty years. The hand-picked fruit ferments naturally in barrel, ages in barrel and tank, then spends 36 months sur lattes before hand disgorgement with around 5 g/L dosage.
Taut and focused, it drinks well now and will develop for years in this format; serve with oysters, roast quail or a wedge of Comté at about 8°C.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
