Bérêche's Brut Réserve Vieilles Vignes is the house's multi-vintage cuvée, drawn from older parcels and bottled without filtration; this one sits on the 2019 base and was disgorged in July 2022.

The Bérêche family have been at Ludes, in the northern Montagne de Reims, since 1847, and the estate is now run by the brothers Raphaël and Vincent, who are among the most closely watched growers in Champagne. The Brut Réserve draws on all three Champagne varieties in roughly equal measure - Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay - from premier and grand cru villages of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne, with the fruit taken from the older, lower-yielding vines that give the cuvée its name. The brothers farm along organic and biodynamic lines. Fermentations start spontaneously, and the wine is then aged at length on its lees under a cork closure rather than a crown cap, which allows a slow, controlled exchange of oxygen and is largely responsible for the broader, more vinous shape of the wine. It is disgorged by hand, left unfiltered and finished at a low dosage.

It drinks well on release and will hold five to eight years; serve at about 8°C with oysters, roast chicken or a hard cheese.
