Campania Remensis is the rosé Champagne of Bérêche et Fils, named with the Roman term for the countryside around Reims and offered here in magnum.

Champagne's reputation rests on chalk, but the Bérêche family also works sandier ground west of Reims, and this cuvée comes from three hectares of old vines in the Les Montées vineyard at Ormes, planted by the brothers' maternal grandmother in the 1950s. Vincent and Raphaël Bérêche farm the family holding from Ludes and have built their name on low-dosage, grower Champagne made with the patience usually reserved for still wine. The blend is led by Pinot Noir and Meunier with around a quarter Chardonnay, topped up with a small proportion of still red wine for colour and depth. The wine is disgorged by hand with roughly 3 g/L dosage, and the magnum format slows its development in bottle.

It is drinking well on release and has the structure to hold for a decade in this size. Serve at about 8°C with roast pigeon, charcuterie or a plate of prawns.
