Description
Champagne Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Blanc de Noirs Vieilles Vignes is made entirely from old-vine Pinot Noir in grand cru Ambonnay.
Ambonnay is one of the Montagne de Reims grand crus and among the most highly regarded Pinot Noir ground anywhere in Champagne. Egly-Ouriet's Blanc de Noirs comes from the oldest vines in the domaine's holdings and is the fullest expression of the house style: very low yields, late picking, fermentation and ageing in barrel, no compromise on ripeness and a minimal dosage. Long ageing on lees before disgorgement, here in November 2018 on a 2011 base, adds the weight and texture the wine is known for.
A Champagne for the table rather than the aperitif hour; serve with roast chicken, veal or mature cheese at 10°C.
