Description

Champagne Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Brut Rosé, here in magnum, is a grand cru rosé built on Ambonnay Pinot Noir.

Egly-Ouriet works in Ambonnay, a grand cru of the Montagne de Reims with a serious record for Pinot Noir and for still red wine. The rosé is led by that variety, with Chardonnay in support, and takes its colour from the domaine's own red rather than from purchased wine. Old vines, very low yields and late picking underpin it, vinification is in barrel, lees ageing is long and dosage minimal. This is a 2012 base disgorged in October 2018; the magnum format slows the wine's development further.

Cellar it or serve it now with duck, salmon or a plate of charcuterie. Serve at 8-10°C.
