Description
Champagne Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millésime is a vintage Champagne from grand cru vineyards at Ambonnay on the Montagne de Reims.
Egly-Ouriet is a grower house at Ambonnay, one of the grand crus of the Montagne de Reims and long regarded as the best village in Champagne for Pinot Noir. Francis Egly farms old vines at low yields and picks noticeably riper than most of the region, which is the foundation of the house style. The vintage cuvée is led by Pinot Noir with Chardonnay in support, all from grand cru sites. Fermentation is largely in oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, malolactic conversion is generally blocked, and the wine then spends a very long stretch on lees in bottle — well beyond the appellation minimum — before disgorgement with a low dosage. The disgorgement date is stated on the label.
Best given time in the glass or a decant, and it will continue to develop in bottle. Serve at 8–10°C with roast poultry, veal or a mature hard cheese.
*Every effort is made to ensure the current vintage is accurate; however, variations can occur. If you are after a specific vintage, please contact us prior to ordering.
