Description

Champagne Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millésime is a vintage Champagne from grand cru Ambonnay, made only in declared years.

Ambonnay sits on the southern flank of the Montagne de Reims and is grand cru, its chalk long counted among the best Pinot Noir ground in Champagne. Francis Egly farms old vines at very low yields and picks late for full ripeness, and the Millésime is dominated by Pinot Noir with Chardonnay filling out the blend. Vinification is in barrel, ageing on lees is long, and dosage is very low, which is why these wines read as vinous and deep rather than lean. This bottling was disgorged in October 2018.

Ready now and capable of a decade more; serve with roast chicken, mushroom dishes or hard cheese at 8-10°C.
