Champagne Egly-Ouriet Grand Cru Millésime is a vintage Champagne from grand cru Ambonnay, declared only in years the house judges worth it.

Ambonnay sits on the southern flank of the Montagne de Reims and is classified grand cru, its chalk and clay long regarded as some of the best Pinot Noir ground in Champagne. That variety dominates the Millésime, with Chardonnay making up the balance. Francis Egly farms old vines at low yields, harvests late for full ripeness, vinifies in barrel and gives long ageing on lees before a very low dosage, so the wines are vinous and deep rather than austere. This bottling was disgorged in July 2020.

Ready now but with years in hand, it suits roast chicken, mushroom dishes and hard cheeses. Serve at 8-10°C.
