Les Carelles is a Selosse lieu-dit blanc de blancs from a single, exceptionally rocky Chardonnay parcel in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

Le Mesnil is a grand cru village at the southern end of the Côte des Blancs, known for the tension and longevity of its Chardonnay. Anselme Selosse acquired this site in 2002 and it forms part of the small series of single-vineyard bottlings he releases alongside the estate's blends. The slope is steep, south-facing and made of fractured chalk with very little clay, so the vines must push their roots deep to find water. Selosse describes the wine as dry and structured, its palatability sharpened by the concentration that comes from the southern exposure. In practice it is the raciest and chalkiest of the lieu-dit wines, with the mineral drive of the site well ahead of any winemaking signature. This bottling is based on the 2015 harvest and was disgorged in January 2021.

Ready now but built to reward a decade in the cellar; serve at about 8°C with oysters, turbot or aged Comté.
