Description

Nature de Craie is a non-vintage premier cru Champagne from grower Laherte Frères in France.

The name points to craie, the French word for the chalk that lies under much of Champagne and holds water for the vines through dry spells. The fruit is classified premier cru, the second of the three village tiers. The label gives 2024 as the base year. We do not have the blend or the dosage for this cuvée and have not guessed at either.

Chalk-grown Champagne tends to read taut and dry with a fine bead and citrus rather than pastry. Serve at 9 to 10 degrees as an aperitif, or with shellfish and lighter fish dishes.
