Champagne Laherte Frères Blanc de Blancs is an all-Chardonnay Champagne from a single base year, rounded out with a perpetual reserve.

Aurélien Laherte runs the family house at Chavot, just south of Épernay, working roughly seventy-five parcels across the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, the Marne Valley and the Côte des Blancs. The Chardonnay for this cuvée comes off chalk soils in those first and last sectors. Parcels are pressed and fermented apart, mostly in used barrels, on indigenous yeasts, and the wine goes into bottle without filtration. A share of reserve wine held in a perpetual blend gives the cuvée its consistency, and after an extended stay on lees it is disgorged with a low dosage. Base year and disgorgement date appear on the label, in keeping with the house habit of showing its working.

Ready on release, and it will hold and gain breadth over several years. Serve at around 8°C with oysters, sashimi or a young goat's cheese.
