Champagne Laherte Frères Les 7 is a single-parcel field blend of all seven grape varieties permitted in Champagne, raised on a perpetual reserve running back to 2005.

The plot sits in Chavot in the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay and was planted by Thierry Laherte in 2003 to make use of the heirloom vines of Fromenteau, Arbane and Petit Meslier already growing within the family's oldest parcels. Adding Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier and Pinot Blanc completed a co-planting of all seven varieties the appellation allows, which almost no one else in Champagne maintains. The varieties are harvested and pressed together rather than separately, and all fermentations are spontaneous. The wine is built on a perpetual reserve begun in 2005: each year roughly 60 per cent of the new harvest, here 2020, is blended with 40 per cent of the running reserve, so this release spans the harvests of 2005 to 2020. It is disgorged by hand, in this case in October 2022, with no dosage.

Drinking well now and worth five to seven years. Serve at 8°C with roast chicken, aged Gruyère or a plate of charcuterie.
