Description
Champagne Laherte Frères Les Longues Voyes Blanc de Noirs is a single-parcel Champagne made entirely from Pinot Noir at Chavot.
Laherte Frères is a grower house at Chavot, just south of Épernay, where Aurélien Laherte works around seventy-five small parcels spread across the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, the Marne Valley and the northern Côte des Blancs. Les Longues Voyes is one of the sites bottled on its own, planted to Pinot Noir on a topsoil of clay and sand over the chalk. The fruit is pressed gently and fermented parcel by parcel, largely in used oak barrels and with indigenous yeasts, with malolactic conversion allowed or blocked according to the year. The wine then spends an extended period on lees in bottle before disgorgement, and dosage is kept low so that the parcel and the season are not covered over. The disgorgement date is stated on the label.
Drinking well now and capable of further development in bottle. Serve at around 8°C with roast poultry, charcuterie or a mushroom risotto.
