Description
Rosé de Meunier is Laherte Frères' pink Champagne made entirely from Meunier, assembled from three separate components of the same variety.
The Laherte family farms at Chavot in the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, where Meunier is the dominant grape, and this cuvée sets out to show what the variety can do on its own in a rosé. The blend brings together a white base wine, a portion of vin gris made by short maceration, and a small amount of still red wine from old Meunier vines, giving colour and flesh without heaviness. The base is drawn from the 2017 harvest with reserve wine from the estate's perpetual blend. Fermentation is natural and takes place largely in old oak, the wine rests on lees in bottle, and it is disgorged by hand with a low dosage.
Drink now, and no need to keep it long; serve at about 8°C with charcuterie, duck breast or a bowl of summer berries.
