Champagne Laherte Frères Rosé de Meunier is a rosé built entirely from Pinot Meunier vinified three separate ways.

Laherte Frères farm the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay around Chavot, country where Meunier has always been the workhorse grape and where the family has spent two decades arguing that it deserves better. This cuvée is assembled from three components. Sixty per cent is Meunier pressed conventionally for white wine, more than a third of which is reserve material aged in barrel. Thirty per cent is a saignée rosé, made by leaving the juice in brief contact with the skins. The final tenth is a fully fermented red wine. The parcels behind the white component average twenty-five years of vine age, while those used for the red are over forty. Fermentation and ageing take place across vats, foudre and old demi-muids before the blend goes to bottle for its second fermentation. This bottling, based on the 2019 harvest, was disgorged in August 2021 with 2.5 grams per litre of dosage.

Ready on release and best over the next three to four years. Serve at 8°C with charcuterie, roast quail or a tomato and burrata salad.
