Description
Champagne Laherte Frères Rosé de Meunier is made entirely from Meunier, vinified three separate ways and blended.
Meunier is the workhorse variety of the Vallée de la Marne and the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, and Laherte Frères has made a speciality of taking it seriously. This rosé is built from three components: around 60 per cent pressed off as a white wine, with more than a third of that portion reserve wine aged in barrel; 30 per cent made as a saignée rosé, with brief skin contact; and the final 10 per cent a fully made red wine. The white-wine fruit comes from vines averaging 25 years, while the red and rosé components come from vines over 40 years old. Fermentation and ageing take place in vats, foudre and old demi-muid barrels before bottling for the second fermentation. This release blends 2019 and 2018 and was disgorged with just 2.5 g/L dosage.
Ready now and good for three years. Serve at 8°C with charcuterie, prawns or a salmon tartare.
