Champagne Laherte Frères Rosé de Meunier is a rosé built entirely from Pinot Meunier, vinified three separate ways.

Meunier is the workhorse grape of the Vallée de la Marne and the Coteaux Sud d’Épernay, and Laherte Frères has made a speciality of treating it seriously. This rosé is a single-variety wine assembled from three components: 60 per cent traditionally pressed off as a white wine, with more than a third of that portion drawn from barrel-aged reserve wines; 30 per cent made as a saignée, the juice left briefly in contact with the skins; and a final 10 per cent of finished red wine. The white fraction comes from vines averaging 25 years, while the red and rosé fractions come from vines of more than 40 years. Fermentation and ageing take place across vat, foudre and old demi-muid before the blend goes to bottle for its second fermentation. This release is half 2021 with reserve wines from 2019 and 2020, disgorged with just 2.5 g/L dosage.

Ready now and will hold three to four years. Serve at 8°C with charcuterie, grilled prawns or duck rillettes.
