Description
Champagne Laherte Frères Rosé de Meunier is a rosé made entirely from Pinot Meunier, vinified three separate ways and blended.
Laherte Frères farm the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, where Meunier has always been the dominant grape, and this cuvée is the family's clearest argument for taking it seriously. Sixty per cent of the blend is Meunier pressed conventionally for white wine, more than a third of that component being reserve material aged in barrel. A further 30 per cent is made as a saignée rosé, and the last tenth is a fully fermented red. The vines behind the white portion average twenty-five years of age, while those used for the red and rosé components are over forty. Fermentation and ageing take place across vat, foudre and old demi-muid before the assembled wine goes to bottle for its second fermentation. This release blends 50 per cent 2022 with reserve wines from 2021 and 2020. It was disgorged in June 2025 with 2.5 grams per litre of dosage.
Ready now and best drunk within three or four years. Serve at 8°C with charcuterie, grilled quail or a summer tomato salad.
