Description

Ultradition is the house cuvée of Laherte Frères, built on Meunier from the family's vines around Chavot.

The estate works some seventy-five small parcels in the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay and the Vallée de la Marne, farmed organically and biodynamically in part, and Meunier accounts for the largest share of its plantings. This wine leads with that variety, filled out with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, and blends a base harvest with a proportion of reserve wine held in a perpetual solera the family has run for years. Fermentation is partly in barrel, the wine is left unfiltered where possible, and dosage is kept at extra brut level. This bottling draws on the 2018 base and was disgorged in June 2021.

Drinking well now and good for a few years yet; serve at about 8°C with charcuterie, roast chicken or mushroom tart.
