Champagne Larmandier-Bernier 1er Cru Longitude Blanc de Blancs in magnum is a Côte des Blancs Chardonnay from sites with thin topsoil over chalk.

Larmandier-Bernier farms biodynamically from a base in Vertus and is one of the reference growers of the Côte des Blancs. Longitude is its Premier Cru blanc de blancs, and this magnum is built on a 2016 base with 35 to 40 per cent reserve wine going back to 2004, disgorged in April 2021. The name refers to the north-south line linking the source villages, Cramant, Avize, Oger and the northern part of Vertus, and equally to the linear, mineral shape of the wine itself. All the fruit is Côte des Blancs Chardonnay, and the parcels chosen here have markedly thinner topsoil, so the roots plunge directly into chalk bedrock. Magnum format slows the wine's development, so this will hold its freshness longer than the standard bottle.

Ready now and will keep well beyond a decade in this format. Serve at 8°C with oysters, roast chicken or a whole grilled fish.
