Description
Champagne Larmandier-Bernier 1er Cru Rosé de Maturation is a rosé from the family's premier cru holdings at Vertus, at the southern end of the Côte des Blancs.
Vertus is a premier cru better known for Chardonnay, but its warmer slopes carry a useful share of Pinot Noir, and Larmandier-Bernier has worked vines there for several decades. The house approach is consistent across the range: natural fermentation, vinification in a mix of wood, concrete and stainless steel, long ageing on lees and a very low dosage, so the wines read as Champagne from a particular place rather than as a house blend. This bottling was disgorged in June 2018.
Drink now or hold for a few more years; it goes with charcuterie, salmon and roast quail. Serve at around 8°C.
