Description
Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Rosé de Maturation is a saignée rosé given six years on cork before disgorgement.
Larmandier-Bernier farms at Vertus, at the southern end of the Côte des Blancs, where Pinot Noir is planted alongside the Chardonnay the district is known for. This cuvée grew out of the family’s work on the ageing potential of their Rosé de Saignée. Part of that wine was fermented and matured in barrel on lees for eleven months, then blended with a parcel fermented and matured in Nomblot concrete. After the second fermentation in bottle, the wine spent a further six years ageing on cork before being disgorged with three grams per litre of dosage. It is only the second release of the cuvée, and it belongs to the small category of rosé Champagnes built for the table and the cellar rather than for the aperitif hour.
Ready to drink and capable of further ageing. Serve at about 8°C with duck, salmon or a plate of jamón.
