Les Chemins d'Avize is Larmandier-Bernier's Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs, made from two tiny chalk parcels on the lower slopes of Avize.

Larmandier-Bernier is a grower estate based at Vertus in the Côte des Blancs, long associated with biodynamic farming, very low dosage and Champagnes built as wines first. This cuvée comes from two small plots at the heart of Avize — Chemin de Plivot, planted in 1955, and Chemin de Flavigny, planted in 1960 — both highly chalky, with very little topsoil, and both lying not far from the Fosse vineyard worked by Agrapart and Selosse. Because the volumes are small, the base wines ferment in smaller neutral barrels rather than the larger vessels used for the other cuvées; otherwise the winemaking follows the house method. The wine spends a minimum of five years on lees in bottle and is disgorged by hand with only two grams per litre of dosage. It is a racy expression of Avize, deeper than the Terre de Vertus and more delicate than the Vieille Vigne du Levant.

Ready to drink and capable of a decade in bottle. Serve at 8°C with oysters, sashimi or roast chicken.
