Description
Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude is a blanc de blancs drawn from the southern side of Vertus, offered here in double magnum.
Latitude takes its name from the fact that its parcels sit at roughly the same latitude on the southern flank of Vertus, at the foot of the Côte des Blancs. These sites carry more clay than the villages further north, and the name also hints at the breadth of texture they give. The bottling is based on 2018 with around 40 per cent reserve wine reaching back to 2004. In the cellar Larmandier works mostly with large-format casks, almost all now from Stockinger in Austria, with steel playing a smaller role each year. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations run naturally, and there is no fining or filtration. Bottles mature for more than two years, are disgorged by hand and dosed at extra brut levels, in this case 4 grams per litre, at least six months before release.
Versatile at the table and can even be decanted. Serve at 8°C with shellfish, terrines or white meat dishes.
