Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude Blanc de Blancs NV Base 17. Disg.April 2020

Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude is a Blanc de Blancs drawn from the southern side of Vertus, at the foot of the Côte des Blancs.

Vertus is the southernmost of the large Côte des Blancs villages, and its slopes carry more clay over the chalk than the villages further north, which tends to give Chardonnay a broader frame. Larmandier-Bernier is a grower estate working its own land in and around the village, and the parcels behind Latitude sit at much the same latitude on the southern side of Vertus, which is where the cuvée takes its name. The house style runs to natural fermentations, ageing largely in large-format wood rather than stainless steel, no filtration and extra-brut dosage. This bottling is built on the 2017 base and was disgorged by hand in April 2020.

Drinking well now and with the substance to hold for several years, it suits oysters, a fish terrine or plain roast chicken. Serve at around 8°C.
