Latitude is Larmandier-Bernier's blanc de blancs drawn from vineyards on the southern side of Vertus that share roughly the same line of latitude.

Vertus sits at the southern end of the Côte des Blancs, where the chalk carries more clay than it does further north, and that extra clay is what gives these sites their breadth of texture, a point the cuvée's name plays on twice over. The fruit is entirely Côte des Blancs Chardonnay. This release is built on the 2018 harvest with forty per cent reserve wine going back to 2004. In the cellar Pierre Larmandier now works mostly in large-format casks, almost all of them from Stockinger in Austria, with steel tanks used less and less. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations run naturally, and the wine is neither fined nor filtered. Bottles spend more than two years on lees, are disgorged by hand at least six months before release, and are dosed at extra brut levels, four grams per litre in this case.

Drinking well now and worth keeping several years; serve at about 8°C with oysters, sashimi or a simply grilled fish.
