Champagne Larmandier-Bernier Latitude Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from Chardonnay grown on the southern side of Vertus in the Côte des Blancs.

Larmandier-Bernier is one of the Côte des Blancs' established biodynamic growers, based at Vertus at the southern end of the slope. Latitude takes its name from the vineyards behind it, which lie at roughly the same latitude on the southern side of the village, and the name also hints at the breadth these clay-influenced sites give the wine compared with the leaner chalk further north. In the cellar Larmandier works mostly with large casks, almost all of them now from the Austrian cooper Stockinger. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation happen naturally and the wine is not filtered. It matures in bottle for more than two years, then is disgorged and dosed at extra brut level, 3 grams per litre here, at least six months before release. This bottling is based on 2021 with 40 per cent reserve wine from a perpetual reserve begun in 2004.

Drink now or cellar for five years or more, with oysters, roast chicken or a firm cheese. Serve at around 8 degrees.
