Champagne Leclerc Briant ‘Le Clos des Trois Clochers Millésime’ 2017

Champagne Leclerc Briant 'Le Clos des Trois Clochers Millésime' is a vintage, single parcel Chardonnay Champagne from one of the region's biodynamic pioneers.

Leclerc Briant bottles a small group of single parcel Champagnes alongside its blends, each from one named site and one year, which is a departure from the region's founding logic of blending across villages and harvests to make a consistent house style. The house dates from 1872, is based in Épernay and holds both organic and biodynamic certification, having converted decades ahead of most of its neighbours. The parcel wines are handled with a light touch: indigenous yeasts, low sulphur, no fining or filtration where it can be avoided, and a dosage low enough that the site rather than the sweetening carries the wine. Production of each is necessarily tiny.

Serve at around 10 to 12 degrees in a white wine glass, with poultry, veal or roast white fish, and give it a little time in the glass.
