Description
Champagne Leclerc Briant 'Les Monts Ferrés Millésime' is a vintage Chardonnay Champagne from a single named parcel, made by a long standing biodynamic house.
Champagne was built on blending, across villages and across years, and the single parcel bottlings that a handful of growers and houses now make deliberately abandon that safety net. Leclerc Briant, founded in 1872 and based in Épernay, has released a small series of them from named sites in its holdings. The estate is certified organic and biodynamic, having converted well ahead of the region, and the parcel wines are made with indigenous yeasts, little or no fining and filtration, minimal sulphur and a dosage kept low enough that the wine is judged on the site alone. Quantities are very small and the wines are released only in years that warrant it.
Serve at around 10 to 12 degrees in a white wine glass rather than a flute, with scallops, roast white fish or poultry in a cream sauce.
